DIEPPE

August 18th 2015 Members of the Niagara Command attended the Ceremony held at the Dieppe Veterans Memorial Park in Hamilton Ontario.
August 19 th 2015 marks the 73 rd anniversary of the deadly raid on Dieppe by the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry and many other famous regiments in World War II. On that day in 1842, the RHLI storming ashore in a vicious hail of machine gun, artillery, mortar and grenade fire, suffering huge casualties.
To honour all those brave men of the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry, the North Wall Riders Association – Steel City Chapter did light a candle and read out loud the names of each and every member of the RHLI that stormed the Beaches of Dieppe France.
Members of the Niagara Command of the Order of St George were honored to attend this ceremony by special invitation. The members presented candles at the ceremony. The Chevalier David Sweet MP participated in reading the names of the Soldiers. It was an Honour to participate in this event.
