Dame Louise Siew DStG
Capt(N) A.L. Siew born in Vancouver, British Columbia. In 1974, on completion of her Bachelor of Arts Degree, Capt(N) (Ret’d) Louise Siew began her military career as a Logistics Officer with 11 Service Battalion. After one year with this Army Reserve Unit, she started her Regular Force career as a Supply Officer at CFB Chilliwack. This was to be the first of many increasingly challenging logistics tours at the Station Base, Formation and HQ levels. Of particular note were her tours as a Formation Logistics Officer/N4 at Maritime Forces (Atlantic) where she was responsible for the effective support and materiel readiness of Canada’s East Coast Navy and as Commander, Canadian Materiel Support Group, where she was responsible for the provision of operational level support to CF Operations thru the integrated management of materiel and ammunition warehousing and distribution. Throughout her 35 year career, Capt(N) Siew has not only worked to provide the best possible support for her customers, but has also consistently championed issues related to quality of work life. On retirement from the CF, Capt(N) Louise Siew assumed the responsibilities of Project Director (PD) for the Material Acquisition and Support Modernization Programme, where she served as the PD for all strategic MA&S Modernization and Defence Resource Management systems solution related projects for three years. Capt(N) Siew retired from the Public Service in March 2016 and has recently undertaken volunteer work with her role as a member of the Board of Directors for the Canadian War Museum and working with the Canadian Military Logistics Association on behalf of “at-risk” Veterans.
