CHRISTMAS EVE FOR OUR FALLEN – 1,200 CANDLES

– December 24th 2014

The Order of St. George, Niagara Command was invited by our Chevalier Keven Ellis, to participate with the North Wall Riding Association in lighting candles on all the graves of Soldiers in the upper portion of the Woodland Cemetery. This is an Annual Event. All are welcome to participate

Honoured to attend: Chevalier Keven Ellis – wife, Wendy; Chevalier David Sweet MPP; Chevalier George Seehaver – wife, Marianne; Chevalier Gary Titley – wife, Beverly; and Chevalier Richard Zirger – wife – Judi.

Chevalier Gary Titley provided an additional 300 candles to ensure that all headstones would have a candle.

Each participant reverently placed their candle on a headstone and read aloud the name and rank of the soldier in remembrance of service performed.  One of those soldiers honoured, was Cpl. Nathan Frank Cirillo, a Canadian Forces Reservist, who was killed at the National War Memorial in Ottawa on October 22nd, 2014.

For all the participants, Christmas Eve will always have more meaning.
