What is LAV III?

The Light Armored Vehicle (LAV) III is a relatively-well protected, all-weather vehicle that can be used on most types of terrain. The vehicle can ford hard-bottomed bodies of water to a depth of 1.5M. Capable of speeds of up to 100 km/h on roads, the LAV III gives the commander more options in both combat and non-combat situations. The LAV is the workhorse of the Canadian Army, with its primary purpose as a infantry fighting platform during our service in Afghanistan.
