KINGSTON PRIORY UPDATE – COMMUNICATION AND ENGAGEMENT

– Friday, January 21st 2021

Our Aim

Since its formation seven years ago, the Kingston Priory has striven to be exemplary in the approved purposes of both the Order and the charitable Foundation.

How We Will Achieve our Aim

Our strategy to be an exemplary priory is anchored in the following actions:

  • Securing the engagement, interest, and commitment of our members through a program of communication, information, and consultation.
  • Developing our members to assume and undertake leadership roles in the advancement and development of the Order and the Foundation.
  • Sharing with the Order a record of these actions.

What We Have Done

  • Promulgated fourteen editions of the Kingston Priory Update, addressing all issues pertinent to the Order, the Foundation, and the Priory.
  • Conducted twelve virtual meetings of the Priory, including Field Order appointees, to keep in touch, share ideas, and learn what is happening elsewhere in the Order.
  • Arranged briefings of our members by all other Priors, the Grand Prior, the OStG board chair, and the Foundation board chair.
  • Informing priory members by email and portal communications of all initiatives of both the Order and the Foundation.
  • Inaugurated and advanced to approval by the Board of the Order an initiative to secure Vice regal patronage; the fundraising partnership with the True Patriot Love (TPL) Foundation in support of veterans’ wellness; and the development and advancement of the Code of Values.
  • Our members serve in leadership positions (Foundation Chair, Chair Program, Chair Governance, Corporate Secretary, Fundraiser Chair).
  • Our Priory achieved the highest percentage of membership engagement in the fundraiser and the highest level of financial contribution.
  • Secured approval for Field Dame/Knight recognition for three candidates, all of whom meet the approved criteria for contribution to the Order purposes beyond the call of duty.

The Way Ahead

Our intentions:

  • We will align our initiatives with the approved strategic plan of the Order.
  • We will continue to advance the strategy of engagement, communication, and information described above, with the goal of drawing in even more of our members.
  • We will continue to support the Kingston Military Family Resource Centre as our principal charitable beneficiary.
  • We will continue to explore further opportunities to partner with the TPL Foundation to advance the common purposes of the Order, the Priory, and the TPL.
  • We will develop a succession plan to support continuity and stability.
  • We will recruit worthy postulants strictly compliant with the Code of Values; but do so only when the governance renewal project is fully completed, to embrace policy and procedure in the interest of compliance, stability, and sustainability.
  • We will conduct a full investiture ceremony at the Cathedral of St. George in October, circumstances permitting.

Yours aye,
